Microinjection

Microinjection allows the introduction of systematic chemicals, such as fungacides, insecticides, and mineral nutrients, directly into a tree without any contact with the environment. Microinjection, macro-injection and implants are the most commonly used methods of introducing systematic chemicals directly into the vascular system of trees. Systemic materials placed into the tree are rapidly tranlocated upward and thus avoid exposing the applicator or the environment to chemical drift.

What Injections are Recommended for Thousand Cankers?

Imicide®

A systemic insecticide, similar to Merit, packaged in a closed-system micro-infusion capsule. Imicide has been widely used in University and USDA trials and proven highly effective against other invasive insects such as the Asian Longhorned Borer and recently the Emerald Ash Borer.  Research shows that Imicide is the one of the most effective preventative and control treatments for Emerald Ash Bore. Imicide has been shown to last up to one season or longer depending upon rate. Restrictions should be noted that any trees that will produce food within the year following treatment should not be consumed. With this in mind, the owner of the Walnut tree should determine the value of the tree and decide if they want to save the tree.

This product is not to be used on trees which will produce food within the year following treatment unless food crop on treated tree is discarded or distroyed.

ArborFos®

a 46% phosphate formulation in a completely enclosed micro-infusion system, is a fungicide that inhibits fungal growth through stimulation of the plant’s own natural defense systems. Although its mode of action is not completely understood, researchers indicate it may elicit a type of systemic acquired resistance response. While it imparts no actual phosphorous nutrition, trees tend to develop healthier leaves, roots and stems. ArborFos is for use on certain crop trees for diseases such as sudden oak death.

ArborFos is environmentally friendly and is excellent compliment to a total plant health care program. ArborFos has a two season protection from a single injection.

ArborFos carries no food warnings and can be used on walnut trees.

Stemix Plus®

This is an optimum formulation of chelated minerals with a very low salt index and elevated magnesium and calcium designed to stimulate both foliar and root growth. As a completely enclosed micro-infusion system, stemix plus is for use in trees where deficiencies cannot be successfully corrected by foliage or soil feeding, and in areas where leaching into the ground water is a concern. Because the elements are placed directly into the trees vascular system , the benefits of Stemix Plus can be evident for on the five years .

Stemix Plus carries no food warnings and can used on walnut trees.
